Chasam Sofer Gravesite
Thousands of tourists from around the world come to pray and pay respect at the gravesite of the Chasam Sofer, Rabbi Moshe Sofer, buried in the center of Bratislava, on the bank of the Danube river. The dignified, renovated mausoleum is protected from the weather, and offers glass-enclosed, separate access for kohanim. There is also an independently-run Hachnosas Orchim guesthouse near the gravesite, which is sometimes open for visitors, with bathrooms and simple kosher snacks and drinks, but no meals. Access to the gravesite and an explanation of its´ history in Slovak, English, or German can be arranged in advance of planned arrival by calling: +421-948-554-442. The Chasam Sofer is located five minutes by car, and cca. 20-30 minutes walking distance, from the Chabad Center.
NOTE: There is NO GUARANTEE that someone will be available to open up the kever site on demand, (even for payment), when those who have NOT called in advance, simply show up wanting to daven, and it is therefore not recommended to count on doing so.
