Nursing home visitation
„Cast me not off in the time of my aging, do not leave me as my strength wanes.“
At Chabad, we recognize the loneliness, the reminiscing, and the empty hours to be filled for many of our senior citizens, especially for those whose families are out of town, busy, or non-existent. On the other hand, we appreciate the wisdom, life - experience and storehouse of precious memories offered by these same individuals, if only given the chance.
Every shabbos afternoon, a group of adults and children visits the Ohel David nursing home in Bratislava, making the rounds on each floor, bringing smiles and cheer, conversation and youthful energy to each resident.
In addition, our kindergarten students come before each Jewish holiday, with cards, gifts, laughter, and a short song and dance performance. These „Babies and Bubbies“ visits have proven a huge success as the youngsters´ natural innocence and outpouring of love and concern bring smiles and improved moods to everyone around them.
